Yeah, I know

Listening to: Evanescence The Open Door, Dead Can Dance Into The Labyrinth, Puccini Madam Butterfly. Yah, I have my CD player fully loaded and set to "shuffle". The effect is... interesting.

I've been a bit conspicuous by my absence lately.

But there's a good reason (really, ma, there is). I have almost finished The Book. Yes, that book. The one with the elves, and the unicorns and the shoemakers and the.... wait. There are no shoemakers. Oh, there probably are, I suppose, given that no world would be bereft of shoemakers if there are, in fact, shoes.

What's it about, you say?

Well, I, uh, dunno.

No, I do. Really. But I was just asked that by one of my son's teachers and I found myself making lame excuses about how I'd need to work on that blurb, and he'd be the first to know when I actually manage to boil down 150,000 word into a single sentence.

Or a synopsis, for that matter.

Meanwhile, the year is almost up. I have a penchant for stating the obvious. Er, where did it go, exactly? And am I going to be saying this every end of October from now until my kids are saying it to me, too? (The answer to that question is probably yes. It runs in the family). At least this year, I will not be seeing in the new year with another "really wish I'd finished that damned book". Yay!

So, as I ring in cricket season, end-of-year concerts and plays, a graduation from primary school for # 3, and preschool for # 6, and realise that this time next year # 1 son will be allowed to DRIVE an actual car (yikes)... what was I saying? I don't remember. I guess it's the senior moments, coming upon me. hehehe.

There has been one change to the Clarion South lineup: unfortunately, Angela Slatter will be unable to attend and Helen Venn (WA) has kindly consented to come along instead.

Should be fun. :-D

See some of you at the shindig on Saturday.
